It seems that I was meant for a career in copyediting since my names rhymes with picky. I’ve been called Picky Vicki for as long as I can remember. While the term normally applies to food, I have been known to pull my pen out in public places to correct grammar and the greatly abused comma. Sometimes I even correct someone’s grammar when they are talking, and everyone calls me Picky Vicki once again.

Certainly, copyeditors are perceived as picky as they pour through innocent manuscripts analyzing each mark on the page. It seems like they cry out in joy when a character’s eyes suddenly change from brown to blue and gleefully pull out their red pen. No wonder writers cringe when their manuscript is finished and the next stage is to turn it over to a copyeditor.

However, we are never gleeful about your errors. We may giggle at some of the silly ones, but we’ll never mark your manuscript madly and happily. In fact, we won’t even use a red pen if you don’t want us to. Our edits are done with you in mind. We are dedicated to finding any error you may have in your manuscript without taking away any of your style. Any mistake is noted carefully, but we will never make you feel bad about it. We focus on being encouraging as well as professional.

If you are looking for a copyeditor who can be both proficient and constructive, this is the place. Make sure to contact us with any questions you might have.
